I really connected with Cesar Lechowick over his series Anthony and Cleopatra. It is, as he calls it, a "diaristic fantasy" in which he enlisted his lover and a close friend to play the part of a couple. He intersperses intimate portraits with photographs of animals and objects – as swans in black water, an entangled tree, a bowl of fruit. Paired with the portraits, these images project a fluctuation between splendor and cruelty, facetiousness and tenderness. His box of prints was sequenced brilliantly, and by the end of the stack of pictures my stomach was in knots from a gamut of emotion, the ecstasy and torment of human relationships.

He has a really great eye for portraiture, so be sure to check out Cesar's other work as well.
